2025 Harvey’s Point & Donegal 

Board our luxurious coach at one of our pick-up points and relax onboard, enjoying the journey to Donegal. 

We’ll stop for a light lunch (included) en-route . Our destination is Harvey’s Point, one of the most famous and awarding winning hotels in Ireland, renowned for its hospitality, service and stunningly beautiful location set on the shore of Lough Eske, shadowed by the Bluestock Mountains just outside Donegal Town.

Check into your beautifully appointed room with a focus on space, light, sheer luxury and opulence. Dinner is served this evening in the hotel’s restaurant. 

Following a delicious breakfast, that Harvey’s Point is famous for, board the coach for an excursion to South West Donegal and to Killybegs and the Sliabh League Cliffs.

Our first stop this morning is along the pier in Killybegs  a deep water harbour with its shimmering waters and glorious coastline, this area is famous for its maritime culture. 

Our journey continues westwards to the Sliabh League Cliffs, Ireland’s highest sea cliffs where the cliff face of Bunglas rises over 600m above the raging Atlantic Ocean. The viewing area offers terrific views of The Wild Atlantic Way, the Sligo Mountains and right across Donegal Bay. We have arranged for a local minibus company to take our guests from the coach park the few miles to the viewing platform in comfort.  We will have a light lunch at a local coffee shop near the cliffs, included.

Our afternoon takes us on a journey across the Glengesh Pass, a spectacular drive which links Glencolmcille to Ardara, offering some incredible breathtakingly beautiful photo stops along the way.  

You’ll then have some free time to relax in the hotel before meeting your fellow travellers in the hotel’s dining room to enjoy dinner and a relaxing evening.

Today is a relaxing day, Noel Cunningham, hotel ambassador for Harvey’s Point takes guests every Wednesday at 11am for a lakeside walk, join Noel and your fellow guests for this enjoyable but active experience along the shores of Lough Eske. Make sure you bring suitable walk shoes and rain gear just in case the weather changes. The group will normally be back to the hotel by 1pm. 

We’re also offering you a morning retail therapy option too today, board the coach at 10am and travel to Ballybofey to visit one of Ireland’s most famous drapery stores: McElhinneys of Donegal. If you have a special event coming up, this is the place for you. An oasis of shopping, full of exciting and beautiful designer brands.

The coach will transfer guests into Donegal town this afternoon, you’ll have time to visit Magee’s Donegal Tweed, Triona Designs and stroll around Donegal at leisure. 

Dinner is served this evening in the hotel’s Lakeside Restaurant. 

After breakfast this morning, we head north, by Letterkenny and onwards to The Crolly Distillery.  The ‘Croithli Distillery Experience’ captures the essence of Donegal Gaeltacht whiskey making the connection with the people, culture and place.  Through a stunning, audio-visual presentation and engaging tour guides, stories of local mythology, Donegal’s unique connection to the invention of whiskey and the many past lives of the historic building are told.  Perfect for a whiskey enthusiast’s quest for information yet creates intrigue for those not familiar with whiskey. Enjoy a tasting experience in their lounge after the tour.

We then travel by The Poisoned Glen which lies at the foot of Mount Errigal, sit back and enjoy the magnificent panoramic views from your luxury coach of mountains, lakes and valleys in the one of Irelands most picturesque drives.
Our next stop is  Glenveagh National Park.  Glenveagh National Park is a remote and hauntingly beautiful wilderness of rugged mountains, pristine lakes, tumbling waterfalls and enchanted native oak woodland in the heart of the Derryveagh Mountains in the northwest of County Donegal.

At the centre of the Park right at the edge of Lough Veagh is Glenveagh Castle, a late 19th century castellated mansion, built as a hunting lodge. The castle was built by a wealthy landlord John George Adair. One of his land officers was murdered in 1861 and because the murder remained unsolved, he decided to blame his entire tenants and evicted them all from Derryveagh. Some of them died on the roadside or in the workhouse, he paid for the youth to be shipped to Australia and America and swapped his tenants for Scottish sheep and then built a castle right beside it on the next site. The castle was to be a hunting lodge and somewhere for him to entertain friends. It took 6 years to build but he died not long after completion and it was his wife then who used it as a summer house for hosting rich society friends until 1916. The castle was empty then for several years, had various different owners and was eventually given to the Irish state in 1983 by its American owner. It was opened as a tourist attraction in 1986.  The gardens and castle are a delight to visit, located with Lough Veagh, cliffs and mountains as its backdrop, make sure to allow some time to visit it’s charming courtyards, Walled Garden, Pleasure Grounds and Woodland Gardens

Return to our hotel with time to freshen up before dinner.

After breakfast, check out from your hotel, it’s time to travel homeward bound, full of wonderful memories of our time spent in Harvey’s Point Hotel in Co Donegal.

We’ll arrive back to Dublin in the mid afternoon and continue to your original pick up location.
