Day 1)
Travel to Northern Ireland today. Our first visit on this tour is to Hillsborough Castle, the official royal residence in Northern Ireland and the place where many of the formal and informal stages of the Peace Process took place. A tour of the house will guide you through the elegant State Rooms, still in use today, including the majestic Throne Room and graceful Drawing Room.

Our journey continues with a short trip into the centre of Belfast City for a fantastic City tour of Belfast with our local tour guide. Learn about 4 centuries of history on this panoramic tour and see famous landmarks including, The Albert Lock, Queens University, The Belfast Peace Walls, the striking political murals and Stormont Parliament & Estate. We’ll make our way to our hotel located near Stormont Estate, in an affluent upmarket area of Belfast.

Dinner tonight together in the hotel’s dining room.

Day 2)
This morning begins with a leisurely breakfast followed by a visit to Titanic Belfast, an outstanding world class visitors’ attraction detailing the story of the ill-fated cruise liner from its building to its sinking. The attraction extends over nine interactive galleries with full scale reconstructions. Explore the shipyard, travel to the depths of the ocean and uncover the true legend of Titanic in the city where it all began.

In the early afternoon we travel the short distance to Mount Stewart House & Gardens.
Mount Stewart is one of the most inspiring and unusual gardens in the National Trust’s ownership.  The garden reflects a rich tapestry of design and great planting artistry that was the hallmark of Edith, Lady Londonderry.  The mild climate of Strangford Lough allows astonishing levels of planting experimentation.  The formal areas exude a strong Mediterranean feel and resemble an Italian villa landscape; the wooded areas support a range of plants from all corners of the world, ensuring something to see whatever the season.  Mount Stewart House has been the home of the Londonderry family since the mid-18th Century and is full of wonderful artefacts and treasure.  We will enjoy a tour of the opulent house and learn about its fascinating heritage and historic world-famous artefacts and artwork.

We transfer back to Belfast City, where you can dine at leisure, in one of the great restaurants or bars that Belfast has.

Day 3)
After breakfast, we check-out of the hotel, before heading along the Antrim coast to the The Giant’s Causeway, a vast array of world-famous basalt hexagonal columns formed by volcanic activity over 60 million years ago. Flanked by the wild Atlantic on one side and a landscape of dramatic cliffs on the other, the Giant’s Causeway has captured the imagination of all who visit.

We continue the short distance to Bushmills Distillery, Ireland’s oldest working whiskey distillery and discover some of the trade secrets learned through 400 years of distilling on an included guided tour.

We arrive to our overnight hotel in Derry, one of Ireland’s most historic cities. Group dinner together in the hotel.

Day 4)
Enjoy a relaxing leisurely breakfast. This morning we travel to Seamus Heaney HomePlace, a purpose-built centre which celebrates the life and work of the late poet and Nobel Laureate, Seamus Heaney, and contributes to his legacy.  The centre opened in September 2016, and houses an interactive exhibition, arranged over two floors and filled with personal stories and artefacts, dozens of family photographs, video recordings from friends, neighbours, world leaders, cultural figures and the voice of the poet himself.  HomePlace also includes a recreation of the poet's Dublin study.

We then return to Derry to meet our local tour guide for a gently paced Derry Walking Tour exploring the famous, fortified walls of the city, dating to back 1603.  Our guide will bring to life the historic context of the city’s history which changed our lives, before leaving us at the red sandstoned Guild Hall outside the walls at Shipquay Street.  The afternoon is free for lunch and some retail therapy at the major shopping centres all within a short stroll, before returning to our hotel for dinner together.

Day 5)
After breakfast, we check out of our hotel and travel to our final visit, The Ulster American Folk Park, just outside Omagh. The Park explores the historical link between Ulster and America, focusing particularly on the lifestyle and experiences of those immigrants who sailed from Ulster to America in the 18th and 19th centuries. It’s a living history experience with historic buildings and characters period costumes go about their everyday tasks, illustrating what life was like in Ulster centuries ago. The experience recreating the old world of Ulster and the new world of the US in the 18th and 19th Centuries from rustic Weaver's Cottages, homesteads and a typical Ulster Street to a Pennsylvania Log House brought from Greene County and an American Street based on 19th Century Boston with a replica First Mellon Bank.
Back on-board the coach we journey homeward bound to our original collection point.
